I love the driven, the visionaries, the over achievers, the ones who bring good into the world despite expectations, dogmas and slogan words.
This evening, I learned that Headmistress Katharine Birbalsingh won her important lawsuit in a claim that her school must provide a private prayer room, even though private prayer rooms were not consistent with the ethos of her secular school. Breaking News Headmistress Birbalsingh is an uncommon head of school. Did you know that her school, Michaela Community School, draws from a poor, inner-city, diverse student pool? That Michaela has been described as the “strictest school in Britain.” With top discipline has come top scores. “In both 2022 and 2023 the value-added (progress) score at GCSE was the highest for any school in England.”
Headmistress Birbalsingh cares about tradition in the classroom. She creates a learning environment where values and attitudes matter in the Michaela hallways. While she exposes her charges to black history, she doesn’t overemphasize black history at the expense of teaching British history. She believes the role of her school is to teach and model social cohesion. I like that mission statement. All of the students are united by being British. Birbalsingh takes affirmative action to prevent peer pressure along racial and religious lines. One won’t find a Black Table during lunch at Michaela. One finds tables.
The white savior complex annoys Birbalsingh. Once she shared her lesson plan about black history with a white Leftist woman. The woman became enraged! Where was the racism? Where was the racism? Birbalsingh must teach the black students about racism! Birbalsingh was besides herself. What gave the Leftist woman the moral authority to lecture the Headmistress about what black students needed to hear? I am going to use lower case “black” here with greatest of intention. Birbalsingh knows the fine art of being black. What her black students needed to learn were the things all of her other students needed to learn — gratitude, self-resilience, grit, duty, self-discipline, focus, etc. Left Wing Racism
There is a fine art to blackness. One can be black and recognize that black students don’t need to be beaten over the head about racism, racism, racism. In fact, this brow beating does her black students a disservice. Why would the white Leftist woman know more about the Headmistress’ black students than the Headmistress herself?
The fine art of blackness means expecting the same high standards and culture as one would for other students. Why sabotage black kids with dogma and slogan words? If one believe the kids will end up in prisons at the end of the day, then, yes, teach the black students about racism, racism and more racism. Blackness is Oppression. Nothing else matters.
I don’t know, dear readers. Does Birbalsingh see her black students as individuals with potential unlike the white Leftist woman? This is an interesting question.
The success of Michaela Community School has aroused enemies. Threats and slurs have come from the Left on social media. I don’t get it. Why would white Leftist women be driven mad by the Headmistress’ success? Brown and Black children are just as British as white students at Michaela. They are all British which holds her students together, and her country together.
Once again, the fine art of Blackness — one teaches the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth about the British past in the classroom. Teach the good with the bad and the bad with the good. Just teach the facts, no dogma or slogan words.
A female Muslim student filed a lawsuit against Michaela. The suit alleged that the school’s refusal to provide prayer rooms for Muslim students was unlawful. In fact, Michaela is a secular school. There are no recognized religions or prayer rooms for any faiths, including Jews, Protestants, Catholics, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and Muslims. The ethos of the school is to bring students together throughout the school day, including lunch. The litigant wanted to bring division into the school in the guise of prayer rooms for around 80 Muslim students.
This evening, I learned the English High Court had ruled for Michaela Community School. The decision was a strong one. All should celebrate the triumph of a common ethos and social cohesion at Michaela. The Ruling of the High Court
Conclusion: Despite horrible e-mails, racial slurs and death threats, Headmistress Birbalsingh has prevailed. She created from an open admission pool in the inner-city arguably the top school in England today. I applaud Birbalsingh on her accomplishment and her continued success. It is a puzzle why her teaching methods are not more widely known. The answer may be dogma and slogan words.
Birbalsingh is openly “black” with a lower-case “b” and conservative, lower-case “c.” There are many on social media who refuse to accept, and acknowledge, geniuses like Birbalsingh. Her accomplishments are diminished and shadow banned. Those who are of a certain ideological persuasion on X, Instagram and Tik Tok ignore Michaela. These dogmatists refuse to visit the school and learn from a visionary. And so Birbalsingh strikes me as a fine artist of Blackness. She has created a unique vision of blackness, lower case “b.” The Fine Art of Blackness
Birbalsingh defines for herself what is best for all of her students. She is creative, discerning, and imaginative. She is not creating a conforming institution but a traditional school in the inner-city. All praise to the strictest Headmistress in the world this evening!
Headmistress Katharine Birbalsingh
One day, people will get it. I am happy I grew up in the "bad old days"/smile. My teachers were great and it would never, ever have occurred to them to treat me differently. Out competing my classmates on a level playing ground did wonders for my resilience and confidence in life.
Treat people differently and one robs kids of their change to know the the thrill of accomplishment and success. Image how strong students feel when they are held to exacting standards and they earn top academic scores in England. That's how you create a generation of winners -- employ the strictest headmistress in the country who holds inner-city kids to the highest standards. That 's how winning is done!
Well, Headmistress Katherine Birbalsingh is a beacon of hope. I love her strong sense of self and clear vision. She wants to bring students together while earning top GSE scores in England. Hollywood should make a movie about the strictest head of school in Great Britain. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13316589/headteacher-katharine-birbalsingh-defiant-message-parents-muslim-prayer-ban.html
