When did life become so complicated? Maybe it’s always been that way, and maybe part of it is my age. I find it exhausting.

Thank you for your thoughtful words about the terrorist attack on Israel. I am sickened by some of the comments I’ve read, blaming Israelis. I don’t understand anyone celebrating the deaths of families.

I’m so grateful I found your newsletter.

Because I am human, I feel when other humans face evil. I do not celebrate evil in the public square. Thanks for your comment.

Brave attempt! Ultimately, too many names and too many contemporary concepts listed. First draft.

Probably so. And good point about the contemporary concepts. I do think more scholarship and literature needs to develop a vision of race beyond the year 2050. I was reading an ad for a webinar on Reparations for American Slavery in California...silence. Wouldn't it be more positive and constructive to plan out the next thirty years in lieu of rehashing slavery from hundreds of years ago? I am going to stop, and resist the temptation to step on my soap box. There will be other opportunities to write against reparations over the coming months and years.

America has been paying reparations since the end of the Civil War. It's not just about the greenbacks. Sadly, for perhaps the majority of us in this Land of the Free, money is the final arbiter.

Don't get me started on reparations for American slavery! Man, only slavery was a worse idea for the American future. Reparations is Pandora's Box writ large. An essay for another day.

Very interesting and thought provoking.

I also thank you for your words on Israel.

Murder is murder, and celebrating anyone's death or rape is just wrong.
