Love Anne's comment below...

She says all that I would have said plus more!

I always tell others we shouldn't judge people in the past, because of all that we have now learned.

Life may not be fair, but we can at least give others the 'benefit of doubt' when we have questions.

I was surprised by your take on Woodrow Wilson. I listen to The Remnant Podcast, and each time his name is mentioned, a short clip of some music I probably should know the name of, is played. I think I remember it from Star Wars, and it was associated with Darth Vader.

People are complicated! What makes a good leader?

Biographies can give us a lot of insight, which is why I like them so much. I’ve been listening to a really long audiobook on General MacArthur, which has given me a much different view of him. All I really knew about him before that was his falling out with Truman. MacArthur was driven, and extremely smart, and he had no humility. But maybe having humility is not a good thing when it comes to leadership, especially during times of crisis. I guess I think some humility is always a good thing, but too much can be seen as weakness.

I haven’t finished the book yet, but I’m about to the part where MacArthur is going to get fired. Next, I have a book on Truman. He’s mostly been praised, but he had flaws, too. I just don’t know enough about him to make any judgments.

And, I also don’t know that much about Wilson. Jonah Goldberg often talks about his bigotry, and it seems shocking to us today, but obviously, things were different in his time. We’ve come a long way in our thinking, and now it’s popular to harshly judge people in our past. Some deserve it, but most only knew what they had been taught.

Anyway, I think one of the things you are doing is showing us that not everything we think we know is correct. Life is full of nuances. People have different experiences because of their families, friends and surroundings, and it’s our job to explore, learn and grow. Life is endlessly fascinating.
